| A decadent indian recipe for ven pongal! |
:: Ingredients for Ven Pongal
Raw Rice- 1 cup
Green gram Dhal- 1 cup
Whole Black pepper- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Cashew nuts- 10
Curry leaves- 8
Dalda- 5 tablespoons
:: How to make Ven Pongal
Steam rice and green gram dhal in a pressure cooker with
salt & turmeric powder.
Heat dalda in a pan add black peppers, cumin seeds &
cashew nuts and fry until
the cashews are golden. Add curry leaves. Remove the pan
from heat and pour
this over the steamed rice and dhal mixture. Mix well.
Serve hot with coconut
chutney or sambar.
